Metrowest Boogie
DJ Alkemi was at an out of town gig this week but Andrew Duncan volunteered to dj and found someone to lend him the sound equipment for the night. When I arrived at the Parish Center for the Arts in Westford a little before 7 PM, Andrew and his artist friend Calvin were sitting on the front steps with the equipment waiting for a dance class in the main hall to finish. We've seen the classes in a back hallway or upstairs before, but never in the main hall.
When we finally got inside we had to set up. One of my big jobs is taping over the floor defects [gaps between boards] and hammering down loose nails. I brought some of my own tape but I never could find exactly the right type. Some rolls were way too narrow and another roll was not quite the right material, but I did the best I could.
There were some old faces and some new faces this evening. People came and left during the evening. Counting everyone, we had around 15 people there at some time during the evening.
Late in the evening Amethyst Wyldfyre of the closed eponomously named store made her first appearance here.
Andrew went past the 10 PM closing but since I was worried that there might be complaints from abutters that we violated a curfew I gave him a bit of a heads up.
We cleaned up and were out of there by a little after 11 PM.
