- Building James is a power-pop band hailing from Southern New Hampshire / Northern Mass.
The group originally formed as a means for creative outlet for long time friends Ben Belcourt and Daniel Buckner. Having played together in various projects since high school, in early 2005 each found themselves without a band. With a desire to play, but not much time to commit to practicing, Dan and Ben began playing strictly acoustic to save time with setup and breakdown. As a percussionist, Ben played congas while Dan played guitar.
Early collaboration showed promise, and soon Ben and Dan felt compelled to bring their unique sound to audiences. In mid-late 2005 they began playing open mic venues in the southern NH area, including The open mic at The Stage Door cafe, Shorty's Bedford, and Tupelo Music Hall. The feedback from these performances was very positive, and in late 2006 Building James brought their music to the masses when they began hosting the weekly open mic at Milly's Tavern in Manchester, NH.
Having played as a duo for almost 3 years, in late 2007 Ben and Dan were feeling the power of Building James was starting to fade. Complacent in their routines, the needed an infusion of energy to take Building James to the proverbial 'next level'. An unlikely hero came to their rescue in the form of Andrew Watson.
Watson, a guitar virtuoso hailing from Amesbury, Mass., came to Building James as a friend of Ben. The trio first began playing together as a trial, but very quickly all realized that destiny had brought them together, and no trial would be needed. Andrew has since been contributing to, and enhancing the sound of, Building James' music and developing the sound of the band into a new and better act.

Open Mic Update!
Hey y'all, what's going on? There is much going on in the Building James camp as of late, and it's high time we sat you guys down for a tie-in. So, here's the skinny:
1. Effective June 10th, Building James has 'Passed the Mic' on the Open Mic at Milly's every Tuesday. Our good friends Dually, long time regulars of the mic, will be assuming the hosting duties going forward.
